The National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Standards (CLAS) are very much similar to the Nursing Practice Standards. My peers and I have been trained on appropriate cultural and linguistic practices in our health facilities. We inform patients about the availability of language assistance service and provide the service in their preferred languages. For example, when we notice that a patient is struggling to communicate in English, we let them know that they can be able to express themselves since we have a translator in their fluent language.
